Yes, it's a fantastic movie but, come on, with the majority of the interesting video having been shot in 4:3 and many, many decades ago...what's the point? Will much be improved with a HD version?

The documentary reviews both the footage and media available to the public at the time of the missions, as well as NASA films and materials which had not been opened in over 30 years; all of which has been remastered in HD.

I've got this on order at Amazon UK for 15.30 ponds which is $30.90. Shipping is approx. $6 and takes about a week.

I've got this and East is East on pre order at AmazonUK. Wondered as well why no US HD release. I notice its coming out here but SD only.

This wasn't ever shown at any local theaters either.:( So the best source to order this is ?

The distributor in the UK is Channel 4 Video (or Channel 4 Film, not sure what is the official name). They are also releasing "East is East", "Motorcycle Diaries", "Sexy Beast" and "Touching the Void" on the same day on HD DVD. I've ordered all of them from Amazon UK.

I was considering Sexy Beast as well but pulled back for now sticking with In the Shadow of the Moon and East is East.

I just rented the SD version at my local library. It doesn't really lend itself to HD. Other than close ups of the Astronauts being interviewed today, most footage is not great quality- being almost 40 years old.

Suspecting as much, I ordered the SD DVD for about half the HD DVD import cost (does that make me a video whore? I hope not). Spot checking it: I am very happy with the picture quality. It's not color saturated, but the detail is crisp and pleasing. Look forward to screening it soon.
