View Full Version : Movies you hope NEVER make it to Blu Ray!
psblake 03-14-08, 09:07 PM I just watched BEE movie with my 12 year old daughter last night and it was the WORST animation I have ever seen. Most boring "who cares about these characters" animation ever. Not one laugh in the whole thing.
And to think I had this pre-ordered on HD-DVD when it first was listed on Amazon! Wow dodged an HD bullet on that one! First time I am REALLY glad I am only blu now! LOL
None.
As terrible as I think a movie is there is someone out there who enjoyed it. Why would I wish that it is never released on blu-ray when all I have to do is choose not to watch/buy it? It makes no sense.

digason 03-14-08, 09:57 PM Waterworld
rlsmith 03-14-08, 10:00 PM This is always a matter of opinion.
Consider Ed Wood's "Plan 9 from Outer Space", sometimes mentioned as the worst movie ever made.
"Plan 9" is also one of the few movies released in 1958 that is still in theatrical release in 35mm. I would bet that it gets more playdates than "Gigi", which won the Oscar that year, or a host of other really good films.
"Gigi" will be released on Blu-ray this year, Warner's says. My guess is that "Plan 9" will make it too sometime.
Kram Sacul 03-14-08, 10:17 PM LOTR, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park... :D

zzzozzzo 03-14-08, 10:30 PM Fun with Dick and Jane (2005), $ 100 million wasted on utter crap
hacker-pschorr 03-14-08, 10:35 PM Leonard Part 6

So, you're saying somebody actually liked Caddyshack 2?:D
I would say none as well their will always be some one out their that want the movie. I chose not to buy many movies. So I simply leave them on the sales shelf.
I agree waterworld was a decent movie. They could have explaned were all all that extra water came from. Ice commet maybe.
But I think if blu ray catches on enough we will have NR blu of older films for $5.00-$10. Much like the $1-$5 DVDs most are garbage but some ones buying them
jkcheng122 03-14-08, 11:16 PM Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood. i never seen it but it just has to be the worst movie ever.
sharkcohen 03-14-08, 11:44 PM AI. Worst movie ever made.

bplewis24 03-14-08, 11:53 PM Date Movie (Epic Movie)
(I'm just playing along for the sake of playing along...in reality my answer would be 'none').

chirpie 03-14-08, 11:53 PM Worst movie that I almost walked out of a theater on... two of those actually:
- Congo
- Ecks VS Sever
May they never make it to Blu.
Ecks VS Sever in particular was awe-inspiring in it's terribleness.
big angry 03-14-08, 11:59 PM Superman IV: The Quest for Peace
The first time I saw it I was only like 10 or 11 and I still knew it was laughably bad. As a matter of fact, I remember actually laughing at it.
Starship Troopers 2.....utter garbage.
Jedi2016 03-15-08, 12:13 AM I can't really think of anything specific, but I'm already seeing a pattern of studios releasing catalog releases of low-rate or obscure films that no one cares about, rather than releasing the ones that people actually want to buy in high-def.
Richter 03-15-08, 12:49 AM Smokey and the Bandit movies
bplewis24 03-15-08, 01:08 AM Starship Troopers 2.....utter garbage.
You know a movie is probably pretty bad when it's a sequel to a high-profile movie and you've never heard of it (like me ).

Beat me to it, whats with this deny someone else mentality?
shadowrage 03-15-08, 01:24 AM Borat....
+1. The balls in the face and all of that hair is freaking gross.
I want to add any of the Jackass movies.
Monster's Ball.
Boys Don't Cry.
Salo or The 120 Days of Sodom.
Audition.
Freaks.
The Dreamers.
All of those would be disgusting in HD. Oh. You guys are picking films based on film quality, not content or visuals. My way is more intersesting.
hammer99 03-15-08, 01:24 AM Magnolia.
jason forster 03-15-08, 01:26 AM liquid sky, worst movie i have ever seen.
English Patient. Unbelievably incomprehensible. Boring, insufferable characters.
Nasty nasty movie.
nightowl 03-15-08, 01:43 AM You guys are thinking of movies that are waaay too popular. Think a little lower. My picks are:
1. Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot!
2. Kuffs
Should be a safe bet that those won't make it to BD in the near future, if at all. :)

wormraper 03-15-08, 02:42 AM no movie should be denied access to blu ray. with all the movies we think are trash what happened if our wish came true? or even worse what would happen if a movie you loved was disliked by someone in the studios and they decided not to release it??? I hope that EVERY movie possible can come out in all it's glory. If you don't like it don't buy/rent it. simple as that. I would rather have more choices even if those extra choices are crap than have someone else's view of what's good to watch.

PooperScooper 03-15-08, 07:51 AM Sorry, movies discussions are in movies forum and this has nothing to do with BD discs.
