Region A is the US and B is Europe I think. Anyway, some BD discs are region free and will play in anything and some are region coded and won't. Here's a site that reckons to have listed every BD available with its coding status (and it's updated regularly too). http://www.blu-raystats.com/stats.php HTH. KeithAccording to that chart the majority of BD movies are region free....but I expect releases in the coming year will tip that balance until nearly all but the titles released during the format wars will be region locked.:( Also it would be more helpful if they listed which region each movie was locked to...it's still possible to have a region A title that doesn't have a simultaneous release for every country in the region.. The stats listed are actually for USA only - so they are all region A or coded for all regions. The ratio of Region A to All Regions was always roughly 1:2, and if anything that has been shifting towards more All Regions since the format war ended, perhaps since the likes of Paramount and Universal don't use region codes. I have also noticed that even the likes of Fox, who coded everything Region A in the beginning, occasionally have All Region titles now, especially the overseas (not Region A) releases. Many (most?) Day and Date releases from Sony, Disney, New Line, Fox and MGM are and will likely remain Region A. However Sony occasionally has All Region discs even though it says Region A on the box. |
