View Full Version : HR20 skipping shows

Just got off the phone with DTV. (Actually the second call. The first one
was "disconnected" after being unable to troubleshoot the problem. But I
digress...)

Example: The HR20 is set to record 60 Minutes every Sunday at 4pm on the
East Coast feed (I get the East and West, plus a local). It missed it. I
go into Prioritizer. 60 Minutes. None scheduled. But if I go into the
guide I see that next week is there. It's there on the East Coast CBS, West
Coast CBS and my local. Huh?

This morning the HR20 misses Meet the Press. Again none scheduled. But
East/West/Local/MSNBC has it scheduled.

This morning I watched Reliable Sources on CNN, then deleted it. I go into
History and see 2 (!) entries. One says Deleted, which is correct. The
other says Cancelled. Going to the menu for that entry it says "This
episode was not recorded because the program was no longer available." Huh?
I checked the Prioritizer to see if I had accidently put Reliable Sources
in twice and if both tuners were trying to grab it. No I hadn't. Oddly
enough Reliable Sources overlapped the time that Meet the Press was on but
the HR20 didn't record that either. HUH.

The tech support person said we could try a reset which would wipe out all
my upcoming program settings. If that didn't work they'd get me a new
receiver. Since they already have promised me a new receiver because my
Caller ID isn't working I told her I'd wait until I watched all the shows on
the hard drive then switch it out.

Has anyone else had this problem and know what's going on. I'm guessing
it's software, not hardware, related.

I'll close by saying the obvious: My three TiVos have never had a problem.

I, too, have noticed this issue. I record a lot of shows for my kids (sesame street, caillou, curious george, etc.). They're all in my prioritizer, and I even moved them up to the top, but there are episodes that aren't set to record. For awhile, I thought that if I already had a particular episode (still on the HDD), it would skip, but this seems to be only partially true.

If you or anyone else finds a solution, I'd be grateful. The only solution that I've found is that when I see an episode that's available for there's no "R" next to it, I'll manually go in and set it to record "this episode only", while confirming that it's still in my prioritizer list. But that kind of defeats the purpose of a DVR, doesn't it?
