According to a news item I got today, next Wed's Movie Sendback is going to include almost every HD-DVD found in store, if not all of them. If you are planning on getting anything left for HD-DVD in a Best Buy store rather than online, I highly suggest getting it before then.

Unless there's major price cuts, screw them. But who knows, maybe "all HD DVDs $9.99"?

Wonder what would happen if several key titles get "lost" in store, then found by me after they've sent the others back? Will I get a bargain if they drop prices nationwide, or will they be out of the system and unavailable for sale?

Probably won't bother, but curious nonetheless.

How reliable is the source? Most BB rumors have been wrong in the last few weeks.

There thats more like it.

I was just at my local Best Buy this past weekend hoping to find some killer deals and I was shocked at to only find a 30% discount.

As reliable as the one from a week/10 days ago that said all their HD DVD's was going to be $5.

Exactly. If the "news item" can leak regarding the exact day they are removing the media where is the "news item" detailing what the pricing will be up until that time. Clearly BB's strategy folks would know that by now.

Who cares. Best Buy sucks. Anyone from AVS who uses Bestbuy for anything except to look and see what the item physically looks like is an idiot. I hope Bestbuy goes out of business soon like the dozens of other electronic specialty stores.

P.S. I don't like Best Buy.

Umm, sometimes they have decent deals. i bet almost everyone here has bought at least one HD DVD from there. I'm going in this weekend to match their online prices on some titles.

I have purchased several HD DVDs there but it was ONLY because they had to match another retailer's great deal. AFAIK, BB has never had a good deal that was not matching another retailer.

WirelessGuru is actually not too far off in his comments.

I have to agree for the most part. Since their discount coupons for Reward Zone participants was limited to "list prices" the only deals you could get was by price match.

I don't know if this rumor is true or not, but due to their online sale BestBuy is sold out online of many of their HD titles, and I suspect it will become increasingly difficult to find HD titles there (and most places) in the very near future. I went in today and got a price match against their Web site and so picked up The Pianist for $10.49. Their HD selection was definitely much less than what I have seen there recently, so who knows?

This makes some sense.

The 3 BB's near me are all showing the effects of the sales, with fewer copies, reduced space, etc.

Stores like BB do not like to have long-term sales of obsolete things in their stores. They like to keep a clean, uncluttered look, with up-to-date merchandise.

The OP's news item at least fits the model.

If I remember correctly, the OP is a best buy employee. We'll go ahead and close the thread until an official release or statement is made.
