I have my cable set top box connected to the VR357 input with an s-video cable and still cannot get anything recorded. I have the video output from the VR357 going to my TV with an s-video cable. I have the audio output from the VR357 going into my Denon AVR 1602. I get video and sound when I play a prerecorded tape. But I am unable to record anything. Any advice? I can't figure out what is wrong.

1. Have you selected line input on the Sammy 357?
2. Can you you see the output of your STB just watching through your Sammy?
3. What if you run your S cable direct from your STB to TV, does that work? could be a bad S-cable(the one going from STB to Sammy) among other things.
