Most Panny's have a detachable power cord behind the unit, is it snugly plugged in. The universal reset for Panny's is to hold both the CH up and CH down buttons(at the same time) on the main unit for 10 seconds. Note this usually only works if the unit is ON, so not sure it it will help you. Other than that if you could take it apart, I'd look for fuses? fred317 03-19-08, 07:38 AM Hi, it just went dead tried a couple diferent cords. Will look for fuses. Thanks wristpad2 03-22-08, 01:39 AM DigaDo had some posts about leaking capacitors near the power supply that affected some Panasonic machines. I wonder if you could be having that problem. If you can find his posts in the "search" menu above, you can read about this. DigaDo 03-22-08, 02:55 AM Panasonics have an internal fuse found in or near the power supply. If you have not experienced other malfunctions a power surge may have blown that fuse. That would be the first item to examine. Be sure to unplug your machine an hour or more before opening the case. Your model may have a secondary cover over the power supply to afford some protection from electrical shock/electrocution. The fuse may be in that covered area. Capacitors store an electronic charge, even for a time after power has been disconnected. Notice if the electrolytic capacitors found in the power supply may be leaking. These are canisters with silver tops and colored side jackets with a gray stripe (indicating polarity) running down one side. Replacing capacitors requires some basic electrical understanding and soldering skill. An electrolytic capacitor's specification (for uF, V and heat range) will be shown on the jacketed sides rmae 03-22-08, 03:38 AM Your model may have a secondary cover over the power supply to afford some protection from electrical shock/electrocution. Wouldn't that be like a huge hint to not go there? jjeff 03-22-08, 09:44 AM Yes, at least without prior knowledge (unplugging unit, waiting 1hr. NOT standing on basement floor in bare feet etc.) I'm sure all the DANGER, WARNING stickers would also deter the average person from going there:eek: fred317 03-27-08, 10:32 PM Hi,There is a fuse on the board near the power supply looks like old car fuse pulled it looks good though covered in foil put back in still no power.I didnt see any damage to the electronics. Thanks DigaDo 03-27-08, 11:30 PM Be sure to remove the foil covering the fuse. Is your Panasonic "dead" to the extent that there is nothing showing on the unit's display? |
