Hello All,

So after reading quite a bit i'm pretty bumbed out on my prep for my home theater setup. I just ran my wires and such since I was redoing the carpet etc and ran flat wires to the desired location to conceal them. I only ran enough wires to accommodate from the receiver to speakers on stands and a little slack, enough, but not too much. I ran this with the plan of having all the surround speakers on stands, as its tough for me to wall mount.

So I planned on ordering a pair of 36" stands for left and right surrounds, and and 41.5" stands for the rear surrounds.

After reading more I read that mounting is preffered up to 2' above the listening area. I don't think I can accomplish this. Am I not going to get a good surround effect? Should I get 41.5" stands for all of them? What can I do to make this work? Can I still get an above average 7.1 setup all on stands??

Thanks in advance!

Luke

Also I forgot... How far apart should the front speakers be to get good separation... I dont have much to work with...the area I have is 65" wide.

Thanks

So the quick question would be... if I had to do all my surrounds for 7.1 on stands what size (height) stands should I get? 36"? or 42"? The higher the better?

Thanks

The higher the better?

Pretty much. I'd shoot for at least 5 feet.

I'm getting some stands from (standsandmounts) online shop, the brand ad model is (VTI BL Series) 32-58" Adjustable Height Speaker Stands.

Hopefully they are pretty solid, and don't look too silly being extended close to max. I'll be able to get a little over a foot and a half over listening level.

Now hoping that my deftech prosat 800's fit on it :-)

Thanks for the reply!
