I have a room which I need to acousticaly modify. I was thinking pyramid foam could do the job, because it seems like a very budget minded solution.
For someone who doesn't know what I'm talking about it's this:
http://www.foambymail.com/Pyramid.html

Or, can someone prerhaps give me some other advice on how to make my room more acoustic?

Oh boy. Ethan will tell you all about this junk, plus provide a handy link to his site! :)

Here are some repudable acoustic foam makers:
http://www.sonexfoam.com/
http://www.auralex.com/

Yes, they are more expensive. But their products work as advertised.

Hehe, I already expect that from Ethan I got that link from another topic where he already replied:)

I'm looking for something more easier to get all over the world like Czech Republic. I know that most online stores ship all over the world but the shipping costs will probably be huge...

btw, what's so bad about the pyramidfoam?

Ho about Markerfoam?
Auralex and Sonex are the best options

Go to
www.markertek.com
and try these part #'s

AUR-ALPHA-CHA
AUR-D36DST-CHA

MF-3

SFM-1

there are tons of options and depending on wether sound dampening or proofing....

AND YES FOAM IS PRICEY TO SHIP. UPS went to dimensional weights meaning not just the weight but the size effects the price. Most foam ships as if its 80lbs though it may weigh 1-2 lbs...

I'm looking for something more easier to get all over the world like Czech Republic. I'd suggest fiberglass building insulation. It's a much better absorber than foam, it's cheaper, and it's available worldwide. Build a wooden frame to hold the fiberglass and cover the whole works with some fabric.

Assuming good foam, not Foam By Mail junk, it's usually too thin to absorb to a low enough frequency. And the corner foam blocks are usually too small for bass trapping. If thick enough and large enough foam is fine. But by the time you get to that much foam it's much more expensive than other options.

I was initially planning on going with 4" Auralex pyramid foam, before I found this site. This site turned me on to fiber panels, which in turn turned me on to cloth-covered absorbtion, which in the end ended up in me covering most of my front wall with 6" fiber and cloth. I'm very glad it did, as it's both cheaper, more effective, and looks better than the foam would.

I'm pretty sure you can get fiberglass insulation batts in the Czech republic. I'm talking about the following stuff:

Put up some 2x4" studs against the wall, put the insulation between the studs, cover with a commercial cloth of some sort (jute is cheap; there are more elegant kinds, too) and you're done!

fales,

You may have an easier time getting rock wool where you are. Fiberglass is very big in the US, but not necessarily the rest of the world (we have Corning glass, who invented it). Look for the semi-rigid type, in the density range of about 75-150 kg/m3.
