I want to use an electronic crossover for outdoor speakers and a weatherproof subwoofer. Boston acoustics voyager sub has an amp available with a subwoof crossover, but it is only low pass to sub. I want to high pass to satellites amp, too (the proper way).
Problem is: Lots of pro crossovers available with mono summed subwoof output, but they all have xlr or pro level 1/4" jacks. I found some consumer level units with rca in and out, but they do not sum to mono.
Question: Better to use rca to 1/4" adapters with pro unit or to use consumer unit and y-jack output to sum to mono for sub-woofer amp?
Thanks
Randy

Well.... I think it's not proper to simply "Y" the outputs together. They should go through a summing network so the outputs don't interfere with each other. This can be made from a few resistors. Just Google "mono summing network" for some ideas.
OTOH, many people seem to mix pro gear and consumer gear without any special fuss by using the appropriate adapters.
I use one of these in my 3rd system

RandySee if you can find a used Paradigm x-30 or an Outlaw ICBM.

Mirage also makes something similar to the X-30. I think it is called the LFX-1 or something to that effect.
