i have a marantz sr7001 1.2 hdmi and a panasonic bd 10/a blu-ray the way my set up is i set the player to pcm.what i want to know is how can i get the uncompressed sound.

If the disc has uncompressed PCM (not all BluRay discs do), and you have set the player to output PCM, then you're getting the uncompressed audio to your Marantz. Uncompressed audio has been part of HDMI for a long time.

The BD10a will also decode a TrueHD tracks and send it as uncompressed PCM over HDMI to your receiver. The BD10a does not have a dts-MA decoder and, if you select one of those tracks, it will process the DTS core track instead.
