I am having a 150 FD delivered tomorrow, and the sales person tells me the table top stand is pre installed. He says all I have to do is take the TV out of the box and lift it on to the credenza. Considering the manual has instructions on how to install the stand, I find this hard to believe.
Am I being mislead??

No, the 60" models, 6010 and the Pro150FD require the stand be assembled to the tv. The two t stand legs are installed into the black gloss cover and then you (with help) can lift the panel onto the legs and use the 4 bolts to tighten. If your prepared it should take about 10 minutes extra to install the stand.
The 42 and 50" Kuro and Kuro Elite models come with the stand attached.

Ask the delivery men to help - they should, especially for a sawbuck or two. :) You don't have to lay the plasma down like it says in the manual. Put the stand together and just lower the plasma onto the rails. It took about 5 minutes for the delivery guy and myself to do it. Plug it in and make sure you can see the setup screen to make sure it works before the delivery guy leaves.

Also, what protective material, if any is under the 6010 stand to protect a nice wooden surface. I plan on getting a 6010/150 soon and will buy some felt pads or something similar ahead of time if necessary?
Thanks

most stands come with rubber pads attached to the bottom of the stand. so you should be all set.

yes, as robby mentions the two metal t stands that are the support for the display fit into a black gloss base cover ande the metal t stands do have rubber end caps so they rest on your stand and it's protected. it looks like the black gloss base stand is sitting on your stand but it is really sitting on the rubber ends caps that the base covers.

Thanks dssturbo1 and RobbyTV for the info!
