Please Help........This is what I have. Sharp Aquos 52", PS3, ONKYO HT-SR800, and a Motorolo Digital Cable Box from my cable provider.

I know how to hook up the speakers to the Receiver, but my question is what is the best way to hook up the PS3, ONKYO receiver and TV together. I do have all the required HDMI cables, but I am not sure what should all hook together with these HDMI cables. Do I need additional audio cables? I am extremely technological illiterate when it comes to this TV audio setup stuff so can you give me some pretty detailed instructions.

thank you

Amazon says that the HT-SR800 is HDMI pass through only, meaning that it won't accept the audio from HDMI. So you'll have to use a separate connection for audio. This is what I would do.

PS3: HDMI + Optical (Toslink) > Receiver
Motorola: HDMI or Component + Optical (Toslink) > Receiver

Receiver: HDMI output > TV

You instruction manuals for each should have a much better description.

I set it up this way and this is what I have. The audio and video are working great out of the motorola cable box. I have the audio coming out of the ONKYO Receiver system and is working great. I have these hooked up in the HDMI 1 input and the OPTI 1 Input. I had to assign both of these to the cable input.

My problem lies with the PS3/DVD setup. I have them setup in the HDMI2 and OPTI 2 which states CD on it. When I push the DVD input button on the receiver I get the video, but I have no audio coming thru the ONKYO system. This is happens both when playing a game and watching a DVD thru the PS3. To get any volume I have to turn up the volume on the TV and that is my only audio. Am i doing something wrong. Should I be using a digital Coax instead of an Optical for the PS3/DVD?

Thank You, I have learned alot more since doing this tonight.

It may be a limitation of your receiver. The CD input on the receiver may be audio only and may disable the video output. Try connection the PS3 to HDMI1 and OPTI1 and see if you can get video there. If this is your only option, you may have to buy a HDMI and Optical switcher.
