I want to buy a used or refurbised tivo unit with built in recorder. I have heard that the Pioneer Elite DVR 57H has problems with finding disks in the 1 or 2x speeds required for recording. Another alternative is the Humax DRT 800 or DRT 400. I don't know the difference with these two models (400 vrs 800) and what disks they accept for DVD recording from the hard drive.

Which is the newest unit? I am looking on E-bay to buy one with Livetime subscription or if I can't do that I know Weekness has the Humax 400, but that is getting a little expensive with then having to pay another $400 after purchase, and I want one with a larger drive.

I have Direct TV by the way for my TV company, and the main reason I want to buy one of the above is to be able to record from the hard drive to the DVD disks in a faster mode as oppossed to real time recording. I don't think using an external dvd recorder lets you do that.
Any suggestions or information would be very much appreciated

There were also some models made by Toshiba.
