My panasonic dmr es40v when playing a Movie projects a black box that covers the bottom 1/2 of the Television screen. It's basically unusable viewing Movies this way. Any ideas??? :(

Do you get the same results when playing a video tape too? I've never experienced something like what you've had. Getting the recorder fixed at a repair shop probably wouldn't be worth the cost. I really like the quality of the ES40VS. I think it's a really good machine though.
