I currently have a 52 sony bravia lcd with an onkyo 605 receiver. Everything is connected and working fine, minus the Hd over the Air antenna ( my area does not offer hd services due to monopoly) my ps3 and wii are connected to the reciever ( hdmi for ps3 and component for wii ) with the reciever connecting to tv only by hdmi. When i change my tv sources ( hdmi 1,2,3, video 1,2,3, etc), I have to change the source to TV in order to watch HD over the air. On the TV source, the TV speakers work, not the receiver. How do i connect my tv to my receiver, so my antenna ( tv source ) is SS? I have alot of choices for output, but not sure which is best way, and if i do connect, will it overpower the hdmi connection audio out???

Your OTA HD tuner is in your display?

You need to connect the optical audio output from your display to the AVR, and then the TV becomes the audio source.

No other way to do it, unless you buy an external OTA HD tuner set top box.

yea, the tuner is inside my tv. With optical, will it soley work for the tv source?...im worried that the hdmi wont work with another audio out from the tv.....i dont believe optical can pass truehd/ dts-ma ?

Thank you for the reply

Huh? Your above post makes zero sense. Run the optical out from the TV to a different input (like SAT, TV, etc) than the other devices. There is no need for optical to carry TrueHD as no OTA signal will ever use it.

You can't have the display in bewteen your audio source and your audio sound system.

It just doesn't work in most instances or works poorly in all others.
