I have a sony receiver that cant decode the new codecs like DTS-Ma. I was wondering can I get the Codec If I have a Blu-Ray that can decode the format?

If your AVR has HDMI and can take audio from that connection. Then yes.

If the player can decode DTS-MA and has analog multi-channel output. Then also yes.

Beware, only a couple of announced players have this, I am not sure of any current models that do it.

No current players can decode dts-MA.

These announced players will have dts-MA decoding:

Panasonic BD50
Sony S550
Pioneer Elite BDP-05FD
Denon DVD-3800
Marantz BD8002
