Does anyone know if any of the" government approved" digital to analog OTA converter boxes can be used to convert digital cable for use on an old analog TV? I've been searching and haven't been able to find that particular question addressed anywhere. My guess is no, but I figured I'd ask to be sure.

NO. The NTIA rules for Coupon Eligible Converter Box eligibility prohibit the boxes from decoding anything other than ATSC. Most cable systems use QAM.
