If I have an HTPC setup on the first floor of a small house and the HT itself is in the 2nd floor, can I ran 30-50 feet long interconnects from my HTPC to the speaker amplifiers? Or would it have a noticable impact on the sound quality?

In pro installs cable runs are long, real long. Quality is not lost because they use quality interconnects and balenced line amps in some cases. What type of interconnect type will you use? Some people have used 75OHM coaxial-type cable for long runs, then use either RCA-type, or BNC, or other terminations at the ends. It is a lot more affordable making your own cables as well.

I was gonna use some cheap RCA ones from monoprice or bluejean. My soundcard will be auzentech Prelude and the amplifiers are parasound hca-1200
