its going to be exactly like that...................its a really good way to get caught up on the general story of metal gear solid without going through the intricate details because there is a lot of them.

Well it seems that more people are unaware of the Beta and the fact that MGO even exists than I thought there were. I tried a few local stores and even had an employee and Game Crazy try and convince me they canceled the Collectors Edition of MGS4...

It seems really odd to me that they would announce something like this and not inform retailers that something may be coming in a few weeks.

Does this DVD come with either pre-order; Limited Edition, as well as the regular game? Having never played the any of the Metal Gear Solid games, I want the DVD.

I thought you only got the beta key if you pre-ordered in April. If that's not the case, I'll head to my local game store Friday morning and pre-order.

Believe it or not but this kinda early, why not save this stuff for MAY?

The MGS dude said it will only last two weeks which is garbage, might as well save it for May because once he Beta is over this disc is worthless.

I don't think GTAIV would make care enough to get into this whole MG0 thing, not to mention COD4 online has spoiled me rotten in terms of online shooters.....

the dvd would definitely be worth it if you dont have time to play the games. its the same as the 20th anniversary dvd which is translated and posted on youtube if you want to watch it that way. its a great way to get the major plot elements of the entire franchise. it really helps.

I got mine yesterday. But the code isn't active yet. Basically you download the Metal Gear Online Beta from the PlayStation Store and enter the code. Also they’ll be 2 maps in the MGO Beta.

Well I went to my local Gamestop today to pick up the Metal Gear Essentials Collection and while I was there I inquired about the pre-order DVD being available for MGS 4. The manager said they probably wouldn't get those in until a couple days before the game was released. Some GS/EB stores have them now. I'll check mine after work.

On the Gamefaq forums for MGS4 there have been several people from around the country stating their local gamestops have received the Saga 2.0 pre-order disk. So many seem to have them in hand today. Others still reported either their gamestop not having any idea what the Saga DVD was, or they knew about it and said they would probably get it tomorrow.

So if you are lucky you may be able to get yours today as many have already done so, but from what I've read it seems by tomorrow the remaining gamestops should have the discs. I haven't tried calling yet but after work I will see if my local Gamestop has it in yet and will report hopefully good news.

Any chance after you view the video features on the DVD you could give a summary of what is on the disk? I have just heard in general it has some MGS4 trailers and some sort of character or storyline history. I did finish MGS2 and right now I am playing MGS3 for the first time, but I never beat MGS1. I am mainly curious what kind of backstory stuff does the Saga 2.0 DVD have. Is it simple character bio's or a full retrospective of the MGS storyline? I would love to have something that sums up the entire storyline and character arcs since even with playing 2 of the 3 games Kojima's storyline is still confusing.

Even though I plan on picking up the DVD today or tomorrow (pending my Gamestop has it) I don't plan on watching the Saga 2.0 DVD until I finish playing through MGS3 so I don't run into any story spoilers. But I would be interested in hearing a more detailed report of what is on the disc.

It's done as a pseudo-documentary on Solid Snake. A narrator explains the story of each game while showing scenes from it. It covers the basics pretty well but doesn't go into much detail on each individual game.

Chapter 001: Prologue
Some MGS4 footage. Not actual gameplay but you can tell it's all in-game, running at a smooth 60fps.

Chapter 002: Metal Gear 20th Anniversary
Kind of title sequence showing a little bit form each game.

Chapter 003: Big Boss - The origin of Snake
MGS3.

Chapter 004: Liquid - The second Snake
MGS1.

Chapter 005: Solidus - The third Snake
MGS2.

Chapter 006: Solid - The first Snake
MGS4. Stuff from the various trailers, I don't think there's anything new here.

And then there's a section with 5 or 6 of the trailers for MGS4. Very nice overall even though the narrator seemed to slip up a few times. Plus he kept calling the Patriots "Pat-triots" instead of "Pay-triots". I guess it's a British thing.

I picked mine up today. There are obviously lots of spoilers (espeically of the first game) on this disc. I have yet to beat the the original MGS either, but after watching the DVD I know I am going to have to beat it before 4 comes out...

YEP! :D I picked mine up here in Los Angeles. The guy said he only had 2 more left? I'd be tweaked if I preordered this and didn't get into the beta. That was the ONLY reason I preordered. I would have just waited till release day to pick it up otherwise.

I was able to pre order and get my copy of the bonus DVD here at my local gamestop here in San Diego today.

I got mine in Atlanta, and while they were ringing up my stuff, someone called to see if they had it. The person who answered the phone asked the girl helping me if they had it.

She smacked him in the head with the DVD, and called him a dumbass. :D I laughed.

Called my gamestop in Wheaton, IL and at first the guy said they didn't have them but then he asked a co-worked and said they actually did have them and if I came in to pre-order they could give me one. I rushed over there and got one. When he pulled it out from a cabinet I could tell they had at least 15-20 of them sitting there. While I was being rung up the clerk asked me what was even on the DVD, so apparently even with them getting them in they still don't know. All I know is I got mine! Thanks to Slacker George for posting what was on the disk. I will probably hold off on viewing until I beat MGS1 and 3, then view it before MGS4 comes out to help me have a better grasp on the whole storyline.

I watched it last night, and I have never played any of the MGS's. I didn't think it was too much of a spoiler. At least at first glance. I am sure when I go through the earlier games now, I'll find those spoilers.

I thought the DVDs were limited and only came with "some" preorders. How many is each store getting?

There's a well written article posted on GameFAQs that is a great primer on Metal Gear history. It was written before Portable Ops so it's not completely up to date. Still it's probably the best I've read.

I stopped at game stop to take my son to check out some used PS2 games and I could not resist. I ended up walking out with the Metal Gear Saga Vol2 DVD in my hands. :D

Can't say I was impressed with the DVD. They left out many subtle intricacies that are very important to the story of Solid Snake.

It's too bad really.

You sure have to be on your toes with the EB Games in my area. I went in there and reserved 3 games and they made no mention of the free DVD or beta key and I even reserved MGS4. I was angry about it when I found this thread, but if I hadn't seen this thread then I wouldn't have the beta key as of tonight. I went in there before they closed tonight with my receipt and asked them why I wasn't offered the DVD or beta and they just played it off like, "oh, he must have forgotten to give it to you". As much money as I spend there and not so much as a freebie from these guys. Rant over and I'm happy now. :cool:

Grrrr. According to this (http://ps3.qj.net/Invalid-Metal-Gear-Online-beta-keys-detected/pg/49/aid/118340) there are two versions of the code inside the Bonus DVD you get with pre-orders.

Some have 9 digits, some have 12 digits. I have a 9 digit code, and it doesn't work!!!

Check to make sure your codes work people. If they don't work, Konami has set up an email address specifically for beta problems and questions it's...

So, my key worked that Konami gave me, and I completed the initial download. But every time I try to "update" it times out with a network error. You get two methods of download to choose from: HTTP or Peer-to-Peer(torrent style). Which one worked for you?

I have been trying on and off for 3 days now... the furthest I could get is the agreement page. Man, if they won't extend the beta trial period they might as well call it off...

I had a thought about all this download/ID stuff. Heh, what if this is all part of the Beta? I mean, what is beta but a testing period for a software. Only this time, it encompasses more than simply the software, it is an entire delivery system. Hmm... this all may be part of it.
