I am sure somewhere this question was answered. Just cant find it.

How do I hook up the PS3 to the internet. I have cable access in my HT using Optimum cable.

Do I just need to purchase a router and if so what gets plugged into where?

Thanks,

You will in fact need a router to share internet access with multiple devices. The Linksys WRT54G is a popular model that supports both wired and wireless connections. You would be able to find alot of support on the internet for it if you choose that model. The PS3 is very smart and will aid you in either a hard copper wired or wireless connection. Use the Network Settings feature in the PS3 system menu to guide you.

Welcome to Home networking

Cable -> cable modem -> router -> Device(s)

Go to the linksys homepage. They have a 'Learning Center' which will help you figure it all out. It's not too hard really.
