5 years ago, I joined this forum with dreams of having a projector some day.

A few days ago, I just ordered the stuff.

To say the least: I'm somewhat excited. ;) This will be a bit crude by nature of the fact that I rent and it's not the best room. But I want my theater, damnit... so I'm determined to make do as best as I can.

Here's what I ordered:

Mistibishi HC1500
Harman Kardon AVR-247
92" EliteScreens matte-gray manual pulldown screen
30' HDMI cable from Monoprice
Peerless PRG projector mount
EliteScreens wall brackets

I've spent a lot of time thinking this over and trying to plan it out. I've used the projector calculators and such to get all my measurements. I already have the ideal spot for the projector mount marked on the ceiling, right on a stud.

I already had an HK AVR-146 and Onkyo speakers that I just bought which unfortunately doesn't do video conversion (oops) so now I need to offload it (eBay I suppose *sigh*). At least I can use those other 2 speakers from my 7.1 set (the AVR-146 was 5.1, the 247 is 7.1) I now think that 30' is too short for a clean run along the corners of the room, so I'm going to need to do an ugly run direct across the ceiling for the HDMI cable. :( But hey, it's going to be a projector and a 92" screen! :D

Nothing has arrived yet... screen should arrive tomorrow. Receiver and projector haven't even shipped yet. Going to be a difficult wait. I'm also thinking of replacing my couch while I'm at it. :D

Still need to offload my 36" tube TV too, but I don't want to yet until I have things ready so I won't be without anything to watch for any longer than necessary.

Anyhow, that's it for now... just was so excited, had to tell someone. :) I haven't told my girlfriend yet... I'm going to try to keep her out of the apartment and surprise her suddenly with it all set-up.

Good choice on the projector and the reciver! I have the HK AVR-347 and had the Mit projector for a day. I loved the pic but i miss read the calculations on projector central and it would not work for me. Good luck and happy viewing!:D

Now if it can just hurry up and get here so that I can set things up before my gf comes over next time. I want to surprise her. ;) The screen is already here, but that's it.

Screen, brackets, and projector mount had arrived by now... today the projector itself arrived. It's very nice. Was surprised at only 3 mounting holes but I'll assume Mitsubishi knows what they're doing. Did balance test to find center of gravity. Hooked it up at work to make sure it worked... looks beautiful, nice and quiet too. Sweet.

HDMI cable still hasn't arrived, but at least tonight I can get the mount, projector, and screen mounted and aligned, and run the power cable. Still waiting on the new HK receiver too, but I've already wired up the extra 2 surround speakers so it's ready to be dropped right in.

Re-arranged my living room a bit, brought the couch back further as the spot next to the heater was a nuisance and the bigger screen allows it now. Not the ideal seating distance for my 92" (diag) screen unfortunately, at approx 15' away. Would prefer closer but if I go a little closer, I'm blocking the entrance to the living room. Closer than that and I'm right next to the obnoxious heater blowing straight at you. Closer than that and the couch is right at the other extreme and plop-down in the middle of the living room, requiring me to rewire and move 5 speakers. Urgh. Also doesn't allow for company to sit in-front of the couch. I guess I'll try it where it is against the far back wall for now and see how it goes. Wouldn't mind being closer though. Damn heater.
