My current speed is 2.5m download and .35m upload, which only allows me to host 4 player matches in Warhawk. So I called Frontier (my provider for broadband through my phone line) about increasing my upload speed. The technician explained that normally they concentrate on increasing download speeds BUT they will be offering a gaming package "soon" that would concentrate on improving gaming performance. He couldn't give me an exact date, only "soon", whatever that means... Anyone else here about this? Do other DSL providers offer this package?
I have been in contact with AT&T/SBC trying to get DSL to my house...
"Soon, it will be available soon"
Its been two years...
Havent head about this but also in Rochester and using Frontier so I may inquire as well.

Please do that Dagg21, Frontier is my only broadband option, as Cable does not go down my road for RoadRunner.

Sounds interesting. I recently moved and have FrontierNet DSL 3000d/384u but more speed would be great!
On a side note, has anyone had any luck with the SpeedStream 6250 router and not having Nat Type 3? I have tried everything..dmz..port forwarding...and still no luck. I am not sure if it has always been like this though.

I have Frontier as well but in a different area. I have not heard about this. I will call and inquire.

I also have a Speedstream. I don't recall the model number right now. It took me a while to get to NAT Type 2. It turns out that my modem was also a router (I was thinking it was just a modem). So I had two routers in my setup the speedstream and a dlink. How many routers do you have? After I put my DLink router address in the DMZ of my Speedstream modem/router I was able to get to NAT Type 2 and better online gaming. Have you assigned a static IP to the PS3?
Edit: I called them and the lady from customer support did not know what I was talking about. She transfered me to tech support. The guy from tech support said the naming of the packages varies from location to location. He said the east coast will be getting/got something called like best gamers online or something like (he recalled having read about it). On the west coast they will not use that name. I have ~3M Down and 380k Up but they offer as fast as 12M Down 700 Up in my area. Unfortunately my house is not one of those lucky ones. If I had been lucky they would not have charged anything extra for the 12M Down 700 Up in my area. YMMV

Wow...this board has a lot of activity. I completely missed this update to my question as it had dropped to page 3 or so!!
Thanks for the reply. The SpeedStream I have is a modem/router, and is the only router in the Network. I have tried DMZ to the Static IP of the PS3 and no change. I have also tried turning off the DMZ and fowarding the appropriate ports (TCP:5523, UDP:3478-3479, 3659-3660) and still no joy. I have also tried using DHCP and enabling uPnP on the router and ps3. No luck..still Nat3.
I did notice there were 2 options for uPnP on the router:
1. Enable Discovery and Advertisement only (SSDP)
2. Enable full Internet Gateway Device (IGD) support
Mine is currently set to Option 2.
I don't do a lot of online gaming at the moment, so it isn't a huge deal right now, but I am annoyed that I can't get this figured out.
