View Full Version : Have an RS-1, is calibration useful?

I have been reading and searching this forum and have only seen one or possibly 2 people who have calibrated their RS-1. I have the DVE HD disk, have downloaded other HD calibration disks, downloaded the HCFR software and even have an old Progressive Labs CA-1 (useless?). I'm willing to put 20-30 hours into it and even buy a new probe if some of you think its worth it.

So, are there enough tweakable settings to properly calibrate the RS-1 (or get it much better than ootb)? How many of you have done it and how many of those feel it was really worth it?

thank you very much
michael

The available controls on the RS1 are very limited. One grayscale adjustment for the entire range. It's worth doing, but I wouldn't spend a lot on it.

Greetings

If you choose the wrong OOTB setting ... calibration is worth while...

If you choose the right setting ... it will still benefit ...

What is the pursuit of image accuracy worth to you in terms of time spent and $$?

10mins work with the rgb offsets controls will usually get you better balance and linearity as the bulb ages. Will make the difference between your deltaE being above 4 or quite a bit below it.

With your own calibration kit you will be able to make better use of a filter to maximise contrast if you decide to go this route (I haven't bothered with my JVC but have in the past with my previous projectors)
