This is the calibration forum. If you want to copy other owners' settings, you need to search those threads for them.

Calibration does not mean copying settings from others; it means calibrating your display.

Believe it or not, those are two completely different things.

My understanding is that the Sharp Aquos 52d82u cannot be calibrated. I hear differing stories. Can anyone clarify?

Greetings

The user controls calibrate fine. The grayscale in the SM is a bit more convoluted. When it works, it works well ... and on some of the same models ... it does not work well at all ...

HI,

Thanks for your response. A follow-up question...Is it worth buying one of those calibration CD's like this one

monstercable.com/productdisplay.asp?pin=3971 from Monster for example? Oe is this just a waste of money.

I assume its just a dvd that displays different textures and scenes that help you while you adjust the settings.

greetings

The disc will help you set the user controls correctly. Brightness, contrast, color, tint, sharpness.

What is it worth to have those controls set correctly? Worth zero if you don't care. You can't get from here to there without some form of test patterns and that invariably will cost you some money.
