Hi,
I really want to set up a media server for my PS3 to store DVD and BluRay movies. My problem is that there is no way to hook my PS3 wired. I attempted running it wireless, however, it can get choppy.
My question is, if I keep my PS3 connected to the internet wirelessly, can I also directly connect a NAS or other PC to my PS3 and just have that box sit there behind the TV?
Thanks in advance

are you using a university network? or some other manner in which you can't add a router?
you can get a external usb drive and jsut rip from your pc to it and connect that i suppose, otherwise, by a router.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I have a wireless router set up, and unfortunately where my PS3 is located I wont be able to get to that router with a normal wire. I could get the usb drive, however, I already have an older PC with a large HDD, that I use to stream audio over the wireless, which works fine for audio, but with the video, it is too choppy. So I was wondering if there was a way to create a workgroup with that PC and my PS3, connect via wire and still use the PS3 wireless to connect to the internet?

It could be the latest update causing the choppiness..
I was running fine until 2.20 now i have chopiness (and thats with a wired connection)
The only way to do what you are trying to do is to manually switch between wireless and wired when you want to watch a movie..

Ok, just manually switch it from the settings in XMB to wired and it will pick it up... I'll try that. Thanks!!!

The bug in the latest version is relative to Mpeg 4 encodes only. Other encodes seem to work just fine.

I wondered about that - ever since the update I am having a heck of a time maintaining my internet connection. I am using a wireless bridge.
