Does the BD remote allow you to just hit a button to start BD/DVD playback, or do you still have to navigate through the XMB to the video section to start a disc? I was thinking of picking one up, but I need to consider the wife/kid factor of ease of use. They complained the other day that they couldn't figure out how to get a movie started.
Thanks!

There is a 'Disc Auto Start' option under Settings--> System settings that will start a disc when it's inserted. If the option is off then you have to navigate to the XMB.. I just tested this. I had it on for my wife but then decided it was more of a pain for me so I turned it off. I'm usually there when she watches a movie aways.
The remote makes for sense for users watching a movie though. Much easier to control for those not familier with the sixaxis controller.

Thanks. I thought of the auto start, but with three kids under the age of 8, there is a lot of starting and stopping to make it to the end of a movie. I read that the "stop" button on the remote takes you back out to the main XMB menu of the PS3, so I was hoping there was just a simple "play" button that would allow them to get back to the movie (especially now with FW 2.20) without having to either navigate or eject/reinsert.

The update is suppossed to to resume play of an ejected disc. Kids are pretty smart too. I'm sure they'll figure it out.

FWIW, I never both the bluetooth remote for BD playback. I just use the controller. Just hitting a button on the controller brings up a menu while the movie is on to navigate to what function you want to do. I even memorized the ones for the functions I do the most! :)
