If you have DTV you can record the calibration video on HDNET. It would be a waste of time to hook up a single BD player to all HDMI inputs for calibration. Just calibrate the one HDMI input you are using with the BD player. There are differences between different types of video players and even the same type by different manufacturers. For instance, my Toshiba HD-XA2 provides a slighter higher (and better) Gamma than my my Samsung BD-P1400, but I am actually able to achieve slightly better color accuracy with the Samsung. My gray scale adjustments are also slightly different. If you have no other means to calibrate an HDMI input for a particular source, than go ahead and use the calibration values from another HD source through another HDMI input. It should get you close, but again you should not have to run through a second calibration. The result will be the same if you use the same HD player on different HDMI inputs. And don't forget there is a wonderful HD-DVD and BD patterns disc available free to download right in this very "Display Calibration" thread. Why bother with the DVE disc unless you also want the audio test patterns ?
