I am running 2 HDMI, 2 set of component and one VGA for my PJ to be ceiling mounted. How did you guys run yours? Did you just run them to the ceiling and use wall plates??? Same question for electrical, just run a line to the ceiling with a baisc box and plate? I see lots of pics of mounted PJ's but they all have such a nice clean look and I cannot see anyone's cables and want to know how I should run everything????

if you want to run that many i would just pull one hdmi and components through an open plate and leave the rest in the ceiling above for future use.

That might be a good idea Youngone but what if he needs to run those 2 HDMI cables to his projector? I am going to have more than 1 HDMI cable going to my projector along with some component cables as well. I think some people run their cables through the ceiling and either use a single or double gang cable wall plate to run their cables out of the wall or ceiling to the projector. Other people may decide to run their cables down the extension pipe of the ceiling mount. I hope that answers your question.

I'm not sure why any one needs more than one digital signal cable to the projector? Use Switchers and send you signal over a single cable.
I'm using a Gefen 4:1 DVI switcher to send my various DVI/HDMI signals to my projector over a single DVI cable. That single cable is used for DVD, HD DVR, HD DirecTV and soon a Bluray.
I have an old receiver so my Wii is using a component cable that I stuck up 3 years ago but didn't use till this year.

I've been wondering about that. For the life of me I could figure out why it would be necessary to have more than one of each cable type given the availability of switchers.

Two things come to mind as possible reasons...
1. You have two projectors.
2. Because you can :)
Often people do things simply because they can, if your projector had 2 hdmi inputs that may be reason enough :)

Best practice is to put up a big electrical conduit and pull in only the cables you need. If your needs change in the future then you can add what you need. Anything else is a waste of Earth's resources.
That's my Green, Climate saving comment for 2008. Ah... Feeling much better now.

I like to have the plugs recessed into the ceiling, so I used something like this. (I painted mine black to match my ceiling.. you get the idea)

Here is the thread for the HDMI inserts and the dual-voltage recessed three-gange recessed box.

I have a HDMI coming from the onkyo receiver in the equipement closet and a DVI-->HDMI cable coming from my laptop port on the opposite side of the theater. I do have everything in my a/v cabinet running into the AVR and then one cable up to the PJ (zipped to the outside of the conduit). The only other thing I have sitting up there is some spooled up Cat5e wire just in case the remote can't work the PJ properly at that angle. I too agree pulling "needless" cables at this point is a waste of money and resources. That's why I put conduit in ;).
