So, I bought one of the last 60" SXRD available in northern california and picked it up today. YES! I have an older model xbr SXRD and loved it, so bought another one.

Brought it home without incident, thought it would be simple to set up, but its all down hill from here.

I cannot tell what the f&%^& is going on. :(

Plugged it in. Turned it on. The setup screen comes up. So far so good. Ok, for some reason the remote can't be used to move and select items on the screen. :( Batteries in, red light shines when i press buttons... hmmm.

Ok, so I start using the buttons on the side of the unit. More strange behavior where the buttons on the side don't behave as you would expect. The menus often times would only stay for a second before going "back" to previous menu, without me touching any button. It took about 60 minutes before I could get through set up. Afterwards, it doesn't work right. I have yet to see any signal from any input I have hooked up to the tv. I cannot get it off of antenna. If I use the channel up button on side of tv, it will bring up some mini XB menu. For second. Then it goes back to the static of antenna and has "Demo Mode" and bounces back and forth between Motion Enhancer and Live Color Creation.

The Remote doesn't control any functions - wont change power, channels, inputs. Home doesn't do anything.

I detached cable to my comcast box and put it directly into the TV and it will show channel 2. But, you can't change channel with remote or with buttons on side of tv. It also says "Demo Mode" with either motion enhancer or color creation.

Seems odd to even ask, but does anyone have ANY idea what is going on? Anyone know how I can get out of demo mode? Anyone know why the remote does not work and is it related to demo mode?

<<<< never mind i noticed damage to the unit right at the control button section - and a gouge in the TV box. :( calling sony tomorrow

I would return it... but there are no sets for them to give me a replacement - I got the last one.

Its probably easiest to just do the warranty repair. Plus, the service shop is about 80 miles closer and they will pick it up, rather than me take it back. :)

If it was damaged, it's not a warranty issue. It's the store or delivery company that's responsible. The safest thing is to return it for a refund and try to find one elsewhere, but finding another one will likely be difficult at best.

I would have it repaired if you cant find one. I just got mine and it is by far the best set I have owned. I went from a hitachi 60VF820 and there is no comparison. the 120hz mode works as well as the new samsung models in my opinion.
