I was going to do some type of DIY for cost purposes. Would I be better off just getting some rack brackets and face plates for my components? Or would it be better to see about making shelves and just using the face plates? My finished opening is 23" right now and I was hoping I could rig up a glass door that opens and slides into the opening as well.

Any suggestions?

FWIW

I plan on following the lead of silkd and WY84U as they have shown in the DIY Rack thread here http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=13510828#post13510828.

I think these two examples as done by DIY reaches the pinnacle of what can be done by "us humble DIYers"

I don't know much about the MA style racks because I had planned on doing DIY from the start to save some money.

Here too is another option presented on the same threashttp://www.avrak.com/

Hope this helps and give some direction/ideas.
