What is the distance limitations on a 7.1 pre-out?

I want to place my amplifier and other equipment in a rack about 50 feet from the pre-out source. (I know this sounds strange, but it is an option for swapping demo equipment out of a different area than the rack).

Is running 50 feet pre-out possible over audio over thin coax (a composite 6 conductor coax cable plus 1 coax for the subwoofer)?

What is the distance limitations?

Not sure this helps but this would depend on your preamp source output specs and the impedance of the 50' cable you are using. FWIW, I do a similar thing with my preamp to remote amplifiers using balanced interconnects.

BTW, you might get better response if posted in the audio forum.
Cheers!

It is possible but it depends on the output impedance and current abilities of the source as well as the cable properties. Can you get the pre out specs?

I will try. I guess your statement concerns me a little because I intend of swapping the sources periodically. Based on their output it might or might not work...

Well, I use 10 meter interconnects and have never had a problem, either with single-ended or balanced. OTOH, most of the equipment I use has robust output.
