I would like to setup a 5.1 in my living room. The room is about 13' long: TV up front, couch opposite to it. Want to use in-wall speakers for design reasons. Will probably go with Audio Source -- they fit well within my budget and have good reviews at Amazon. The actual models are AS515 for center and AS8S and/or AS6S for front and rear.

Now, about the Sub. I would like to use an in-wall sub -- my wife does not want a bulky box anywhere in the room. I'm looking at Audio Source AS10SW -- it's a 10" sub. The problem is that it is passive, like all in-walls. I'd have to find a receiver with a powered subwoofer output or get a separate amplifier for the SW. So, 3 questions:

1. First and foremost, is it worth it? Would the 10" in-wall sub add anything in terms of listening experience, something that the 8" speakers are incapable of? One of my friends says that I should skip the Sub altogether, the other disagrees.

2. Where should I put the Sub? It is a bit of a trouble to put it in the rear wall, but it's doable if it really makes a difference. What should be the distance from the floor?

3. Any recommendations in terms of which amplifier to use? Lots of car amps out there -- can I use one of those?

Thanks in advance!!! Know this is very basic and most of you would scoff at this sort of setup -- but I would still appreciate any advice you can extend.
