First off....let me fill you in on my viewing area....

The viewing distance from my eyes to the screen would be (roughly) 12 to 13 feet. Though there are windows in my viewing area, I can EASILY block out the light. It never really gets bright in there, to begin with. Daytime-viewing wouldn't be a problem. My walls are egg-white and there's not much I can do about re-painting the walls. (long story, don't ask) I would be more comfortable with placing the projector on a strategically-placed table (rather than mounting it on a wall or the ceiling). My budget is around 1000 dollars. My budget for a non-projector HDTV is $2200 but if that's I buy something from Best Buy or Circuit City where they have great financing deals. (Those places don't have good financing deals for PJ's, unfortunately.)

My main use would be for video games (XBox 360---CoD4, Guitar hero 3, GTA4). However, it would also be used for a decent amount of television and movies.

Mits. HC1500 would be a great choice. But keep in mind you'll need to buy a new bulb every 2000-3000 hours. Hours will add up quick with games and TV.

Best Buy (US) carries Mits HC1500. You can get financing on it. Get the extra waranty if they cover bulb faillure.

He wants to table mount it...he'll definitely need to do some thinking about an LCD projector with offset.

I own the HC1500 but I wouldn't consider it a flexible choice. If you want plenty of lens shift, the Panny AX200 or Epson 720 would be better options.

Can you shelf mount the PJ in the back of the room?

I disagree. There's no reason he can't place the HC1500 on a "LOW" table, etc.

I agree...a "LOW" table mount would work. The OP just needs to take some time and research offset and placement before making a decision. It didn't sound to me like they knew that the Mits would have to be placed in a very specific location whereas an LCD has much more flexibility.

Hey, I own the HC1500 and highly recommend it over all of the LCD's in or even moderately above its price range. But some people just can't fit it into their rooms.
