It really depends on what you mean by "better". Some people may like the blacks on the Sanyo better while others may like the out of the box color accuracy of the 4900. Each of these projectors has its pros and cons, and understanding the technical details is critical in making a decision.

I purchased the 4900 over the Sanyo because I felt it offered the best performance for the money. I was a little concerned with the Sanyo Customer service issues I have read in several of the threads on this site, and I was able to get the 4900 for a great deal. The 4900 met all my needs. Others may find that the Sanyo meets their needs better.

I would also make sure that either (or both) of these projectors fits your room correctly (throw, lighting, screen size, etc).
