What did you guys do that have a AV Receiver with one HDMI output when you added the projector to your setup?
I am swapping HDMI cables right now (don't really like that) and need to find a permanent method.
I saw actual hdmi y connectors on a site, do these work? Its not powered, so I was iffie on it.

there are hdmi switches with dual outputs that you can buy. The problem is they are not 100% reliable and/or expensive. I got one from Monoprice and while the price was good, it doesn't always work correctly. The other option is getting a receiver with dual hdmi output like the Marantz 7002 and 8002. The only thing they can't do is send video to both outputs at once.

I tried the passive splitter and it would not always work. In fact it only worked 1/4th of the time. I then bought the 4 x 2 matrix HDMI switch from Monoprice and it has worked flawlessly for me.

Only need one output. I have two HDMI (2) inputs and many component, S Video and compostie inputs that the AVR can switch accross to the HDMI output. I just use the remote to select the source, only have one (1) cable to the PJ. Yammy HTR 5990.

Monoprice sells several HDMI boxes for that starting with 3 in 1 out.

How does one hdmi output solve the problem of two display devices? If that is the case, you just eliminated the need for a dual output HDMI switch. :)

+1 works great for me also:) no issues what so ever. 1 output from my receiver going to 1 input of my 4 x 2 matrix ....2 outputs from 4 x 2 matrix going to my tv and projector.

A splitter won't work because the HDMI connection requires a 2-way connection between the source (AVR) and the display (TV or projector). With a splitter, you can't get the hand-shaking.
