Trying to learn how to work and Bud was helping out on his Blazing Ridge and a few others, but realized would not clog up his site. A lot of good feedback but thought it might be easier here on the whole room side.

Will attach floor plan and pics as well.
20-20' room, no windows, wired now but a lot left to do.

Ran audio quest speaker wires and sub. Ran for 7.1.
To the projector, have audio quest 30' HDMI and Audio Quest Mac6 with slack since not sure what distance to hang at from the ceiling.
Ran extra Cat 5 to the light switch area and to the front of the screen since didn't know about the Wii or IR needs.

Relative to the room, will try to attach a floor plan and pictures but did located equipment closet in the back of room and have wired behind the drywall to all locations. Relitive to the projector, blocked between the joist every 12" OC between the joist and ran MAC6 and HDMI with extra conduit so there is a lot of flexibiity, since was not ready to settle on projector at the time. Also ran dedicated power line back to the equip cabinet to tie to surge protector.
There is a beam that I need to shoot under, but that should not be a big issue.

Couple comments on usage, have 2 boys, ages 6 & 10. So over time not sure what other uses they will come up with.

1. As a percentage what do you watch:
a. Sports 30% wife is die hard PSU fan.
b. Movies 30%
C. Games 20%??
D. Cable 20%

Cabinet was sized with 107" Horizontal opening and 67" height opening to accomodate 110" or slightly larger screen with some wiggle room. Cabinet base is 31" off the floor.
Seating will be 14-15' back from the screen. Raised bar seating will be 17-18' back from the screen. Room total depth 20'10"" and 20'3" wide. Ceiling is 9'7" but there is a beam in the middle that runs parralell to the screen wall, that is 8'3" off the floor.

Don't have any of the equipment yet, except for BluRay and speakers.
Was focused on getting the lighting control in for sofit lights, front and back wall sconces, step light and above bar. 4 gang box but wanted 5 separate zones.

Projector and screen so abient light would note be an issue if a lot of people over and doors open since pool table etc in other room and we tend to watch a lot of football in there.

I will post before shots as well.

Here are before and duriing shots. It ended up growing in scale the more that I tore out and redid, the moving the equipment area and changing out all the lighting.

Tom, I went ahead and replied to your PM. Glad you figured that out.

I am concerned (as Big mentioned) about putting speakers in cabinets. You said you have the speakers, can you tell us which they are? Are they ported?

A few other questions. Have you thought about acoustic treatments at all? You have a lot of hard surfaces with the cabinets and wood.

What is the distance where you expect to mount the projector? Are you looking to do a 5.1 setup or a 7.1 setup? Where do did you expect to put the sub? I assume on of the lower cabinets?

Assuming the cabinets stay as is. If the screen is mounted on the wall you may need to address the light reflections off the adjacent cabinet sides. The top of the low unit and the inside side edges of the speaker cabinets. When the room is darkened and an image is on the screen the image reflection will be very distracting.

If you're going to mount the speakers in the cabinet (not recommended), you'll need to fill the balance of the cavities with absorbtion to keep it from acting like a big drum and causing all kinds of bass/vocal range anomolies.

Some things to think about, and as I said before wish I was on earlier. We had stalled since the fall, debating the cabinets in the front, and decided to do them. Will get the speaker info tonight, Boston Acoustic I think, they had been my floor standing ones.

Sub was going to go in the lower cabinet. The one issue I thought about when they were putting them in last weekend was that they only used 1/2 ply on the tall sides, so agree, will need something. Would have saved some money and agravation.

On the screen, wife really didn't want to go wider than 110", but she did not spend a lot of time looking at.

Wired for 7.1, to have, but not committed. Due to the back bar, I also ran for in wall in the back and then directional in the ceiling that could go above the bar, since was concerned about the bar and people blocking sound.

Get the point now on the cabinet reflection. Didn't before.

On sound treatment, I agree and think we need something, even if just larger framed panels, that is where having the wife around would be good to comment on.

Doors are likely not in until mid April now, so rest of staining won't get done, but would like to tie out what we can ahead of time.

Projector could go anywhere on the back side of the beam, would need to hang to go under the main beam. Thought about putting the rear soffit, but a lot of duct work in there. Don't want to hang too far or will be in way of the people at the back bar.

what speakers does he have? there are many brands that are made for in-cabinet designs.

Couple of more questions and/or things to think about. What are you doing as far as the rack? DIY or professional? Did you consider venting the rack closet or will the heat spill out into the room? Do you have access to the back of the rack?

Put full access door on the back of the equipment closet. The rack area dilled for adjustable shelves before I put in. The top panel can be removed and abuts the machanical closet so can pull the heat out that way if needed.
Speakers are Boston Acoustic VR 40's for front, and I think the sub, but will look again Boston Acoustic CR 400, also have the VR 20's which were my back speakers before.
