Well My brother made a sonotube sub and we tested it over at my house and finished putting it together. It is a 24" round sonotube 15" dayton quatro with 240W amp.

Over here we have a quad level so house is open to 4 floors. We rocks this house floor shaking pics whole house shaking. Wood floors all around. In a room 230x20x10 with stairway to up and down is where we had it just hammering the house here.

We moved it to his HT room which he can prolly get me a pic of. His room is 14'x25'x7'6"
He took it over to test it and says it was louder and could feel it more over here. His is in basement with concrete floors but carpeted. He is using a onkyo 602 and I have the 605. So I would not think that would make a difference. But the room is smaller than what I had it in.

In my house it would rock my 6t6's 1-2" in each direction on some scenes.

Any Ideas?

Was it calibrated to the same level at both houses? I find that in a basement the concrete walls deaden the waveforms so it won't shake the whole house as much, but it should still have felt very similar if not more powerful in the smaller room if the sub was calibrated at the same levels. It could also be his room is just softer, has more nulls, so it plays down the lows vs your house.

They were set pretty similar i believe it could be the waveform effects making it seem less. He did say the floor upstairs rumbles like no other still. But I would think the bas ya feel would be similar.

It could be the difference in floor making it appear less due to less movement on the couch and feet.

I think you need to go over and set it up for him so you can see for yourself if it is good or not.

In the original location, the wood floors were probably vibrating in sympathy with the bass especially with the down-firing woofer. The concrete floors won't do that.

I think thats the verdict. But will travel over and see.
