raymondeast 04-02-08, 09:26 AM I am getting the sanyo z2000 and need to get a hdmi cable at 25'..is this a good cable from mono cable? HDMI 1.3a Category 2 Certified CL2 Rated (In-Wall Installation) Cable (22AWG) - 25ft (Gold Plated Connectors
i know it is only $40...where a monster is about $300...will i see the difference? thaks
The Install Spot 04-02-08, 09:29 AM If you get a monoprice cable get the best one with the Silver coated copper. It is only a bit more and heck it is still under 100.00. I am running an Audio Quest HDMI 3 that cost over 1K... the MP cable is a steal. I think you would see the diff. but not 900 dollars diff...

OK but the silver one does not say 1.3a it just says 1.3 is there a difference? and will i need the male to male for my projector to the dvd player?
Ron Yost 04-02-08, 11:03 AM Yes, all machines with HDMI have female connectors.
Not sure of the 'a', tho. I don't think it matters, but don't really know for sure.

Perfect timing for such a question -- I just got the same Monoprice HDMI cable in a 20' run. It's about as thick a cable as I have ever seen! I compared it last night to my buddy's $300 Monster cable and guess what...none, zero, nada difference. My friend was crushed when I told him my cable was $26.
Go with Monoprice and laugh at your friends...that's what I did!!!
schroedk 04-02-08, 12:11 PM To the OP:
The cable that you originally mentioned is fine. I've been running a 35' version of the same cable from my Onkyo TX-SR805 to my Panasonic ae1000u. Absolutely no problems. As another poster mentioned, it's nice and thick, with good terminal connections.
I've been debating between Blue Jean and MP for a 30 footer HDMI cable myself.
I've decided to go with the Blue Jean one because I keep hearing, if you're installing the cable in the wall or in a place that one can't easily replace it, get the best quality one you can get. In my eyes, the Blue Jean seems a little head of the MP one in terms of build and overall quality. Still under $100 and is a HDMI 1.3a-CTS 1.3b1 certified cable. Can't beat the price vs build quality vs certification value there.
Good luck!
Ovation 04-02-08, 12:48 PM I went with Blue Jean Cables and have been extremely happy (both with performance and price). I plan to get all my future cable needs taken care of by them.
Andrew Low 04-02-08, 01:09 PM I bought from bluejeans - but selected their budget 'tartan' cables.

louthewiz 04-02-08, 01:54 PM I have read in several forums that Monoprice out performs monster cable 3 to 1 , so I would go with the monoprice, I have my entire system wired up with their products and I have no issues whatsoever...
As far as I know there is no source material readily available which has Deep Color. There may be a few av receivers which do 120Hz but your projector most likely will not display at 120Hz. So there is really no point to pay the Monster cable premium for bandwidth you are not using. Monoprice cables performs just as well and it does not cost an arm and a leg. When you need the more bandwidth you can get the next generation cables from monoprice at about the same price you paid for 1.3a cat2 cables today.

Again, it all boils down to if the cable is going into an area where it cannot be easily replaced.
Deep color may not be here today, but why not plan for it? (I heard game consoles are on target for using deep color). If the projector/display supports it, I would plan for it.
Also, all 1.3a receivers (like the Onkyo 805 I own) pass deep color data since it is part of the HDMI 1.3 spec.
Good luck!
