I'm really hoping Dayton, OH is on this list. I can't seem to find anything other than the DirecTv article which didn't list the cities that will be addd.

Thanks in advance!

Once the new satellite is operational by late summer, there will most likely be far more LIL cities added.

Not likely. D* has never added more than a dozen or so markets in a single calendar year. Even if they did two dozen a year, that's at least 5 years before everyone will be on board. D* isn't going to risk adding a ton at once, having something go wrong, then have 50 markets calling to complain about it all at once.

I'm sure they really aren't in any hurry now since they'll soon have to provide full carriage in an increasing percentage of the local markets. The more markets they add now, the more they'll have to give full carriage to later.

I just note that the story you linked noted those markets would be added by "mid 2008".

You could well be right. The latest FCC dictum certainly takes pressure off in terms of the numbers of LIL markets added.

They've probably never added more than a dozen in one calendar year because they've never had a sat until now basically dedicated to it.

That's a lot of money to waste on a sat if they aren't planning on adding more than the mentioned link for this year.

Local HD Programming in 76 Markets by Mid-2008.
Continuing its commitment to deliver the very best in HD, DIRECTV will offer local HD networks in 11 additional markets by mid-2008 — bringing the total number of markets where DIRECTV offers local HD programming to 76. This means more than 75 percent of TV households across the U.S. will have access to local channels — ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC — in HD from DIRECTV.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., March 19, 2008 — A powerful, new DIRECTV satellite, launched successfully today from the Pacific Ocean-based Sea Launch platform, will further boost DIRECTV's HD capacity, enabling the industry's HD leader to deliver up to 150 national HD channels when the satellite goes into service this fall. With the additional capacity, DIRECTV will also expand its delivery of local HD channels to more than 100 markets, representing 84 percent of U.S. TV households.

I just got DTV a week ago, and I can promise you the Louisville, KY feed is working just fine.

The press release I linked specifically mentioned some of them are already up.
