Has anyone checked or replaced a VP-4001 lamp assy. I have almost 600 hours and I can see I will be keeping this unit for quite some time. It will be a while before a 1080P PJ in the $1000 price range will produce a similar stellar image. And with 2.5 years left on factory warranty and $350 in my ebay account I'm ready to buy a replacement lamp.
I found one a AN100LP/1 Sharp repalcement lamp (DT100 DT500 XV-Z3000 Sharp PJ's) with 90 warranty for $370 shipped. Has anyone verified that the VP-4001's lamp is the same?

I would purchase a replacement from an authorized dealer, not an Ebay seller.

I have replaced the lamp in my VP-4001, but it was with a genuine Marantz lamp, which Marantz generously gave me for free when the original lamp blew after 120 days.
But before they did that, I did the same research as you and I firmly believe that the AN100LP is indeed identical to the Marantz bulb. We all knew that the Marantz is a re-badged Sharp, but here's the clincher: I found a .pdf of the replacement procedure for the AN100LP online and it is identical in every way to the insert included with my Marantz replacement bulb, as well as the page that's in the Marantz manual. Identical text, identical pictures of the bulb, identical in every way.
If Marantz hadn't sent me a free bulb, I was 100% ready to get the AN100LP. No hesitation.
JMHO.

Great! The lamp I found is New and in its original AN100LP/1 packaging. It comes with a warranty of 90 days so I'm going to go for it. I'll put it in a fire it up and it will be the bulb I use until it goes. That way I have the original lamp that still puts out almost as much lumens as when I first fired it up. :D

So have you tried the AN100LP bulb yet?

LOL! Not yet, (Just got it last week) I now have 687 hours on the original bulb and it is still going STRONG. I use narrow Iris at night and medium Iris during the day when the door is open to the HT room for easy in and out access for guests. When I put it in wide mode it hurts my eyes. (I also replaced the screen (was a 92" matte white) with a 110" 1.3 gain electirc which I wish I would have gone to 120+ instead) :D
I'm a little lazy in that I need to take the PJ down and remove the mount to change it. But it will be done within the next couple of weeks, so I can use the warranty portion.

The really big question is if the XR10X lamp is the same as the AN100LP.

EDIT:
I don't know anything about the XR10X lamp.
My original remarks were intended to convey that Sharp's AN100LP is an identical replacement lamp for the Marantz VP4001.
Sorry for any confusion here!

You actually used the XR10 lamp in the DT-500 or similar projector?? If you did you're my new hero. I've been contemplating just doing it for over a week now, but haven't been able to sack up! I know it's only about $100 difference, but I have this thing about circumventing the conventional system and saving money in the process is always a bonus.
Did you order from electrified?

I'm using the Sharp AN100LP in a Marantz VP4001.
I bought it on fleabay for about $50 or so cheaper than the Marantz replacement.

Aww crap. I'm not sure I want to be guinea pig on this...I might have to give it a go though. Just think, if it works in the DT, it will work in the VP...and it's about $120 cheaper than the AN-100LP. Still not sure if I have the sack for it.
