Based on reviews posted here, I bought the DTT900 converter. I'm not sure if the problems I'm having are due to the unit, or if something is wrong with my antenna.

I live about 60 miles north of Dallas, and had trouble receiving two channels from there, but the others came in fine. After hooking up the DTT900, the weak channels come in great!, but the channels I didn't have trouble with, won't come in at all.

Also, there are 2 local channels within 10 miles, and at first, they came in great, but now (5 days since I installed the converter) I see a lot of pixellization that I guess is loss of signal.

I'm going to borrow some "rabbit ears", to see if I still have the problem with the 2 local channels, and if I do, I will return the box to Circuit City. If not, I will guess that the problem is with my antenna.
It's probably about 10 years old, and is a Radio Shack model, with an amp attached. The analog reception has been fine, except for channels 4 and 5.
I checked the cable, and the attachments, but I guess it could also be the cable.(again, it's about 10 years old).

I tried manually tuning the stations, but I just get the nosignal message.
I'm using the component outputs with the cables that came in the box.

The TV is a 6 year old Sony 36".

Will update here, if I find out what the culprit is. I still have my second coupon, which I was going to get the echostar model, but I think my coupon will expire before it comes out.

I'm very new to digital television--three weeks into it, in fact, also with the Zenith converter, so this advice isn't from firsthand experience. I have been reading, from some, that an amplifier can actually create reception issues with digital signals that are already strong. Could you possibly disconnect the amplifier to see if that's the culprit? It might also explain the decent reception on the weak signals that you've spoken of.

I just re-read your message...if you're 60 miles from most of these signals, I don't see how amplification would be detrimental, so the above may be useless advice - except, perhaps, for your two local channels.

I will remove the amp, and see what that does.

I already have an outdoor antenna, but it is about 10 years old. It works fine with the analog signals, except for 2 weak channels.

I still have not tested the 2 local channels with the rabbit ears.

One more thing, which I think I saw mentioned on this forum, I have to double the volume setting on my TV, to get the same sound level with this converter box.

try setting the sound to mono in the options of the box.
