"Comcast says that the new service will allow customers to download a 4GB high-def movie in about 10 minutes. Don’t get too excited; Reuters says that kind of web power will cost you—$150 a month."

For what you spend in one month on that service, you could get a years subscription to Netflix.
Well, you don't need that for bit-starved 720p. You only need enough speed to start the movie in 10 minutes. To start viewing, you only need to receive a fraction of the movie - see your Quicktime player for a demo of that. The existing 5-10 Mbps offerings are fast enough to give you bit-starved 720p in 10 minutes. 50 Mbps is probably enough to stream Blu-Ray data in the same manner, with the same 10 minute lead time.

that would be awesome to get those speeds, but that seems just a bit steep for a monthly charge.. but what I"m a saying, I'd be all over that :D

This is only the beginning. DOCSIS 3.0 will allow for high bandwidths than this. Think of this as the entry level in 2-3 years and will probably be priced at 50 bucks a month as well.
