View Full Version : I just received the new Samsung 61" DLP LED
justinj229 04-04-08, 12:17 AM If anyone has any questions I would be more than happy to answer them, long story short is I had a lemon/DOA 6187S and One call swapped it out and since it was discontinued sent me the 2008 model (cant complain). The only issue I had with One call was my 6187S did not have the "stickers" that Best Buy and Circuit City's units had .... you know the "FULL 1080P HD" and all that good stuff.. Well, the new set did.... so One call might have even sent me a returned item to start with because it was a hunk of junk from the start.. Anyways, if you have any questions I will be glad to help out.. about the 6187S or the new 61750

I love the TV, loved the 6187S but of course it only lasted about 1 hour before the LED was defective .... The picture is outstanding without tweaking settings, and my cable is HD Dish Network, I have the HD packages, they are flawless and I also receive over the air NBC, CBS in HD from an antenna. If you want pics of any certain parts of the set let me know...

I do not see a bowing issue must be to each their own, obviously do not put anything on top of the TV but who would do that with a 2,000 dollar unit? Sports is amazing, I watched the Braves game and am ready to watch the Final Four this weekend on it. I played NCAA Basketball on 360 with it and it looks amazing and absolutely huge... Tested Blu-Ray and it looks amazing, but have not watched a full length movie, just a few scenes from Pirates of the Caribbean.
alvindd 04-04-08, 01:07 PM I would like to see a test grid pattern on the 61750 if you could.
You can get the test patterns(tv_test.zip) from this thread:

Charles R 04-04-08, 01:40 PM I would like to see a test grid pattern on the 61750 if you could.Since every set will be different I don't think you'll gain any knowledge by looking at one... I have looked at five and each has been unique. Also the set has a built-in grid test pattern.
Glad to hear you got things sorted out - can't beat getting the newest version to replace the older one! ;)

That can be great and bad. I just had my "S" series replaced, and I was actually more comfortable getting it replaced with the final run of the "T" series than the 1st run of the 2008 models. There are bound to be bugs with the initial run of new models, but hopefully they are nothing major.
alvindd 04-05-08, 07:37 PM I am having my HLT-6189s replaced with a HL61A750A1FXZA.
The HL61A750 forum sounds scary, random power offs, Blu-ray players not being recognized, bowing(all Samsung RPTs have this to a degree).
But aren't all forums loaded with just the problems and not the love for the TV?
My 6189 LED engine is failing, I would rather have that replaced, I think, then start new issues with the A750. No bowing or tilt on my 6189.
But there are no 6189 LED engines in stock I was told.
So I'll wait 2 more weeks until I get the A750 and hope for the best.

I am another proud owner of the 61A750, but I was wondering about the LED engine failing issue you said you have? I thought they're supposed to last 60K hours etc? Tell me more :(

yep they ended up sorting it out nicely, whats funny is I actually confirmed my suspicions.. the new TV has the FULL 1080P sticker and LED lighting stickers on it.... something my other TV did not, very weird..
djm3801 04-06-08, 07:51 AM I had the same issue!! Every set I saw had stickers. I picked up mine myself at Sears. All the packing looked fine. Got it home. Boxes are deceptively easy to open and, aside from the white packing straps, easy to reclose. Set went in. Picture was amazing. NO STICKERS!
Called Samsung and they said I should be concerned. Posted an item here in the HL-Txx87 forum and 4 people said they got the same thing - new sets with no stickers.
So - I guess it is ramdom and Samsing was wrong. My set has been working fine and was great out of the box.
djm3801 04-06-08, 06:18 PM YOu mentioned that the set has a built in test grid. I must have overlooked it in the menu. Any special menu that will give me this in the 750. Is there one available in a special menu on the hl-t6187s?
Thanks.

It is in the service menu. I think you get to it when powered off and hitting Mute 1 8 2 power. Don't adjust anything in there or you might seriously break your TV. Also, I believe it resets all of your settings to default(contrast, brightness....) when you exit.
djm3801 04-07-08, 05:41 AM Thanks for the info.
