It looks like they're taking a letterbox 4x3 image and stretching it to fit across a 16x9 screen. The result is not only stretched horizontally, but also squished vertically.

I can't watch it for more than a few minutes without feeling nauseous.

I almost want to dig out my old HTPC and use yxy to unstretch their rubbish.
