So I want to get some MS Game points for cod4 maps, its at 800p. Now i would like to know is if you[i] can split and send game points to a friend ? Cuz they seen to have MS points in 700-1000-1600 and so on. So if i buy the 1600 and use 800 for the map can i just send the rest to a buddy 'who also wants to just use it for the maps' ??

Also Im looking to make a new gamertag when mine ends this month, if i buy then maps with this gamertag, do i still have it when i make a new gamertag? still on the same xbox...

I think you can change your gamer tag as I have had a few friends that have done this.

i know u can change it, its if i can keep the maps if i bought it with my "old" gametag..

yeah, it's perfect for you. You can use 800 points to buy the map pack, and then another 800 to change your gamertag (it costs 800 to change). Solves all your problems - you get to spend ALL your points, and you don't have to lose achievements through creating a new gamertag!

Has anyone been having problems trying to redeem the card? I've been having all sorts of errors from saying it's invalid when it's 100% right to status code 801500a and another one.

Currently no there is no way to send MS points to anyone. They are looking to set it up though in one of the updates. They are planning to start doing user created content on marketplace in the future but no word on when.

Yeah marketplace is having issues since the COD4 maps are out. Server overload I am sure. lol

No, you can't just buy 800 points. No, you can't split points up and give them to someone else. Yes, you can use what you bought with a different gamertag on the console you purchased it on, but if you ever switch consoles due to hardware failure you won't be able to recover it. And if you already have an account, why would you let it expire and do a new one? Spend the points to change your gamertag or you'll lose your saves, achievements, downloadable content if you move to a different console eventually, etc.

You can buy 500, 1000, and 2000 points via Xbox Live and you can buy 1600 and 4000 via the cards. They all come out to 80 points per dollar unless you get some kind of Google checkout discount or something on the cards.

Since there is no discount for bigger volumes of points, I usually do a lot of 500 points for $6.25 via Live to get my Rockband DLC on.

So for the original posted, 1000 points via Live might be better unless so he only has 200 points sitting around instead of 800.

Why would i let it expired? Well ive already bought the card for the 12+1 months of Live, and I didn't seen the need to spend just to change my gametag.
And I also have no plans to move console.

Lord Flatus, yes that i what i did, i ask that since if i get the 1600 card i can send the rest so a buddy can get the maps too and waste no points. Yeah so that would not work so we both got the 1000p.

But thanks to all replies/help. All is well, fyi i was not asking to come out of this in a cheap way hah just didn't want to waste game points cuz i have the xbox since day one and have not needed game points until now with no problems *knock wood*
