Near the top of the screen there are flashing white rectangles (very small) across the top of the screen. Other than putting the pic in zoom mode is ther any other way to get rid of this problem? Occurs in letterbox and 4x3 mode. Any solutions would be welcomed. Thank you.

It appears that you have an overscan issue. The blocks (data) you describe are typically hidden from view. Does your display have an option to tweak the amount of overscan?

Go to your tv's picture size menu and select 16x9 or one of the views. Right now it's on just scan or dot by dot.
