Major HD issues here switching feeds from SD to HD
HD Multicolor pixelation looks like going with the SD feed for now.

it's times like these that I hate that our CBS station, KTHV, has a subchannel (I'm watching OTA). Quick movements bring macroblocking almost every time. I always hear about how great CBS Sports looks but I don't get to fully enjoy it...1080i networks shouldn't have subchannels...

Looking very good here OTA on WFRV, Green Bay, no subchannels. However, the audio I'm receiving isn't stellar, there is very little coming from the rear speakers. Here's the TSReader analysis (http://i304.photobucket.com/albums/nn180/qualitycontrol_2008/FinalFourEarly.jpg) from early in the first. Looks like WFRV likes to use every bit of bandwidth they can. They used to be a CBS O&O, so that might have something to do with it. Sadly, WFRV still has the problem with going blurry for a second or two following any fast motion, graphics, etc. I guess you can't win them all.

EDIT: Either some changed or the crowd is louder, because I hear more from the rears now.

Are the announcers going to go ahead and blow Love at halftime? I've never heard this much man love for someone.

Memphis, OTA, 1 sub. Picture is breaking up when they have a closeup. And of course the out of focus blur which they refuse to deal with.

Not to mention our local broke into a commercial break during gameplay. Idiots.

I wonder why CBS is no longer doing the halftime show from the site like from Final Fours past.

You noticed that too!!! After the commercial break, which was during game play, they went to SD and a minute later back to HD... Yup WREG is full of idiots...

it sometimes takes a little bit of time to dial things in....this is a LIVE event, after all.;) if you still need more from your rears, turn your chair around :o

Viewing WWJ-DT CBS Detroit, looks and sounds great.

Wow, Memphis just blows out UCLA.

Yeah, that was sad for this UCLA fan.

Wow, UCLA cracked under pressure big time. They panicked horribly in the 2nd half when they were down by more than 5. Anyways, picture was excellent as always CBS. Watched via digital cable on WCBS-DT.

Next up, I get to watch my favorite team, the Heels play against Kansas. I think UNC will win by 10-15. That's my honest prediction, i'm not biased at all. In my bracket last year, I actually picked G'town over UNC. I felt dirty but, I went with my gut instinct. Anyways, GO 'HEELS!

Am I wrong that the hoops here don't light up when time is up? Looking at the end of the first half I was looking for the lights and didn't see them. BTW, It looks great here on KCBS 2 LA on TWC here in SoCal.

Pretty flawless so far from WISH-TV in Indianapolis (OTA). The video is much better than some of the earlier games in the tournament.

Same thing going on here. :(

OTA - WOWK - Charleston/Huntington, WV - 1 weather subchannel

Quality definitely leaves a lot to be desired. Very noticeable macroblocking with any quick motion. Close-ups with little or no motion look nice but of course that's not exactly what this is about. It's acceptable enough but definitely some of the worst looking sports HD I've seen OTA.

I wish they would fix the blurr man that is annoying

Even my gf noticed the blur effect last night and commented that it seemed to be happening quite often. I can't believe CBS can ignore such a blatent problem for so long. I was watching via WJZ in Baltimore which is an O&O (no subchannels).

Does anyone at CBS even know this problem exists? Do they watch the material they broadcast for QA? The blur effect has been a LONG RUNNING problem, and noone seems to know anything about it.

It's a local problem. I've been complaining to my local affiliate WREG since last year about it and they wont follow up on it. Tell your local affiliate to contact CBS in New York for the fix. It's an adaptive filtering setting.

Thanks, I'll try and get them to talk to CBS to get the fix. You would have thought by now that CBS HQ would be proactive in fixing this problem, instead of waiting for the station to contact them.

I don't get any of my local HD's via Direct, but I also noticed it when ESPN2 or ESPN carried the SEC championship game.

This is a post from an NBC game that mentioned the same thing. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=9379363#post9379363 I was subscribed to another thread where someone gave some details about it but I guess it went in the archives since it's not in my CP.

Best part of this game this past weekend. There are 34 slides so you might want to let it run for a few minutes to update all of them. Not to mention the website is going very slow right now. http://img223.imageshack.us/slideshow/player.php?id=img223/6208/120750156033p.smil

Looks like they are using the new shot clocks that have the red lights around the edge instead of the backboards themselves IIRC.

Since I'm here in San Antonio now I don't care as much about picture quality for once. I am recording the game to watch later so I hope its not too bad. Go Tigers!!

Time to break out the antenna, Saturday's games looked noticeably better OTA than via Comcast.

Can't wait!!!! I really wish that WREG would've turned off their subchannel for this historic game for us.

Anyone else lose the announcers (really soft actually) late in the second half? I cannot hear them over the crowd noise. CBS SD sounds good. I'm watching via Comcast.
