If you're in a fringe-reception area, the Samsung receives distant signals somewhat better than any of the earlier, discontinued HD receivers (US Digital, the earlier Samsung SIR-T451, etc.). It also handles multipath better than earlier receivers, which can be a factor if you have large buildings or other objects nearby.

If you have a regular old analog TV, probably not.

I have both it (the Samsung DTB-H260F) and an Insignia CECB. I've watched both simultaneously using PIP, and when the signal broke up both boxes reacted identically. So, in my opinion, the tuner performance is pretty much equal. But, I rarely get signal break-up in my location so results may vary.

I find the Samsung has an edge when it comes to picture quality. I do use the component inputs (the red, green and blue plugs, not to be confused with the yellow composite video) so that is probably the main reason my Samsung has better PQ than the Insignia.

The Samsung has a better program guide. The furtherest I've seen it go out was 36 hours, but it depends on the broadcaster. The Insignia just tells me what's on next. The Samsung can be set to auto-tune to a specific channel at a specific time by clicking on a show in the guide. Nice for setting up recordings.

The CECB has one distinct advantage over the Samsung though. The Samsung lacks a good "crop" feature for viewing 4:3 shows that are being broadcast in 16:9. So, with the Samsung you have to watch 4:3 shows with a black border on all 4 sides. The Insignia can crop the picture to make it fit a 4:3 TV better. Shows in 16:9 format look the same on either box.
