I currently own a TH50PHD8UK and have really been pleased with it over the past few years. I'm ready to upgrade, and have narrowed myself to three models:

TH50PZ85U
TH50PZ800U
TH50PF11UK (if one exists)

The 85U is available now. The 800U is available for pre-order, but who knows when it will come out. The 11UK, probably my preference, hasn't even been announced.

I may be willing to wait if there is reasonable certainty of one coming out before TOO long. Anyone have any info on this?

The big difference between the 800U and the 85U is the proper processing of 24fps material, THX certification, and 5120 levels of color gradation. For those who really know what they are talking about (I do not belong to this group), are these features worth the wait?

In your position, I would definitely wait... at least until the 11UK's are announced. You've got a great TV now, so it really doesn't hurt to wait to see the new professional models will offer, and by that time you should also have some user-reviews of the 800U to compare to. If you are going to upgrade, make sure you do it right!

As I understand it the 8xx series will feature a single front pane w/bonded filter rather than a separate glass pane for the filter ala Pioneer.

Do you happen to know whether the 11Uks will follow this lighter (and I beliebe better) approach or stay with the older glass filter pane?

GaryNo they won't. "one sheet of glass" is cosmetic only. You will not see that on the 11UKs.

I have been seeing the 50PF11UK available online for about a week now. Does anyone own one yet?

I got an email from Visual Apex they are shipping mine next week. I believe Roman said he will be in stock next week also in the Panasonic 11UK thread.
